Sherri Rosen Has Joined BMCC Select Chorus, Tribeca

I just audtioned last week for this new chorus that began in 2005, created by Prof. Eugenia Lau at Manhattn Community College.  The chorus now has approximately 40 members and will continue

to grow to involve 70 members. The professor is very welcoming and skilled at choosing appropriate people for the chorus.  The first performance will be at the school’s theatre at l99 Chamber Street the beginning of December, 2008, in honor of the Christmas holidays.

It has been important for me to be involved within my community and Dr. Lau was a pleasure to audition for.  She made the audition fun and relaxing for me.  Come and join the newest and most exciting chorus in downtown Manhattan.

The Borough of Manhattan Community College Downtown Chorus is a new non-profit organization dedicated to fostering and sharing the art and joy of choral music and to enriching and educating our City’s downtown community through concert performances of music from diverse historical periods and cultures.

The chorus’ founder and artistic director is Dr. Eugenia Oi Yan Yau who is assistant professor of music at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY). At BMCC she directs the college’s choirs, including the BMCC Select Chorus which she founded in 2005, and teaches voice. Dr. Yau has also served as the director of the Pace University Downtown Chorale.
