How do you make a blind man or woman see? You can’t. They have to see for themselves. They can see with their eyes, they can hear with their ears, but if the heart is not open they will never understand what you are saying.
It means a great deal to me to be honest to myself and others. Honesty isn’t an easy thing to come by, because we have so many tricks up our sleeve to make us feel differently. Mainly our thinking mind. Many folks rely on the mind for all of their answers, and if the heart isn’t open, those answers and responses will be lies to ourselves. Ego usually creates the responses in our mind, and is truly threatened by the heart and its openness. Ego always wants to be in charge, now matter what!!!
Each of us comes from a personal history, much of it good and much of it bad. That personal history are like veils that cover what we can actually see and hear especially if the truth is being spoken to us. And if you have not worked out that personal history you will never see or hear the truth. Let me give you an example: If you come from a childhood that is full of pain and anguish, say your mom or dad abandoned you, or your mom or dad died when you were young. What you are left with is this empty hole that you keep trying to fill up and the last thing you want to do is just sit with the feelings of being abandoned or the grief of losing your mom and dad at an early age. If these situations are not reconciled within you, perhaps you will see certain men and women that remind you of your parents as a threat, or you are quick to blame if these men and women remind you of your parents. And forget about seeing or hearing the truth from any of these people that remind you of your parents.
I had this client who wrongfully accused me of taking advantage of him. I showed the client in black and white with clear cut documents of how he was wrong, and that it was the other way around that what he was actually accusing me of he was inflicting on me. No amount of wisdom would make this person see or hear me. It was impossible because of all of the unresolved issues in his own life, that covered up the truth that was being spoken to him. His ego was pushing him onward on an endless journey of creating pain for himself and others. And probably creating the same pattern of action over and over again.
And that’s another thing. If the same situation and pattern keeps happening in your life over and over and over again, and keeps bringing you bad results doesn’t it make you wonder if you are that blind man or woman?
