If you love someone, and they are causing their own pain-what to do? by Sherri Rosen

First of all, you must realize that it is their pain and they have to figure out a way to move through it instead of staying in their pain.

They don’t truly realize how much pain they are causing themselves and others.

Don’t try to fix them. It will only make matters worse.

Don’t sit in judgment. If they ask for feedback, give it to them in the kindest and most truthful way possible.

Support them not to hurt themselves, and love them and surround them with as much love as you can.

Have courage to be there for them. It’s their journey. All you do is love them and not turn your back on them.

Realize this is a choice they have made. They may not be conscious of this choice, but it is their choice to stay in pain.

Appreciate who they are, even if they cannot appreciate themselves.

Find a common ground of connection. Perhaps something fun, like dance, music, comedy, film, theatre, something where you can connect!!

Don’t have an agenda with them and don’t manipulate them. Allow them to be who they are.

The above are lessons in unconditional love. Something we all have to learn the hard way.
