Who needs publicity anyway?

Sometimes the hardest part of moving to the next level in your career is admitting that you cannot do it on your own. You need a publicist. When you’re launching a career that depends on people recognizing your name—and being willing to monetarily invest in that name—you need the right kind of publicist.

Publicity isn’t only for authors. Actors and actresses team up with publicists to build a portfolio and generate contracts. In an effort to raise funding or to capture potential audiences, and film makers have often sought out publicists. Musicians, especially, have found great reward in publicity: growing fans, packed shows, increased music sales, all come with the right kind of publicity pitched to the right audience. Businesses invest in publicity to raise awareness of new products and new branding images. Event planners collaborate with publicists to get the word out about a fundraiser or show or an innovative project. Even individuals who want to build a public platform of any kind might find it incredibly valuable to hire a publicist.

In general, a publicist’s job is to launch a client’s name or product into the media frenzy, to getting the word out there. They create a buzz. But beyond this, the task depends largely on the client. Whether you’re a rock star or a fundraiser for a private school, a good publicist will galvanize as much press interest as possible and arrange new relationships and contacts for you. While some artists or public figures simply need to be cast in a new light, others might require media coaching.

If you are ambitious and serious, and if you a feel like you are at a turning point in your career and need personal attention, we cannot more strongly recommend hiring a personal publicist.

But no matter what your cause, who you are or what you do, if you need the public to hear about it, you need what’s called publicity. And here at Sherri Rosen Publicity we carefully tailor every campaign around our clients needs. Whether you’re an author, actor, a growing business, musician or a filmmaker, we want to team up with you to make your vision a reality.         Sherri Rosen & Tyler Blanski, Sherri Rosen Publicity, NYC, Www.SherriRosen.Com

    Ms Rosen,

I need help in publishing and promoting my book. Can you help me? I have tried to find an agent without much success. My book is, “Events You Design“, a completed 82,793 word nonfiction on event planning and decoration. I am currently researching Kindle and the possibilities of self publishing. Thanks for any advice.

    Sincerely,
    Teresa L. Speer
