Keeping your word-following through by Sherri Rosen

Following Through-Keeping your word

The scene can be a tragically familiar one in New York City. A
woman waits at a table, a rose or a copy of Pride & Prejudice in hand,
anxiously glancing at the clock. Half past eight. Where is he? She
looks at her reflection in the window and runs a finger through her
hair. The waiter asks her if she’d like another cocktail and she
declines. Where is he? Why didn’t he come? Why didn’t he at least call?

Following through. Whether it’s your love life or your friendships or
business, following though is so important. In business, especially,
when you say you will do something you need to do it. It’s not enough
to make big promises, swear to finish a project by a deadline, to give
assurance of success, or to plight one’s troth (as it were), if you
are not going to carry out what you’ve committed.

It’s about keeping your word. When you pledge to meet a client at a
certain time, to have the writing piece in on a certain day, or to
turn in the report by Monday the only road ahead is the road of
commitment. And this kind of commitment is what we here at Sherri
Rosen Publicity Intl, NYC strive for.

How can we make our words line up with reality? How can we give what
we commit to give—nothing less? How might we engage in publicity that
is vibrant, alive, pulsing with an electric energy and joy, but that
also is grounded in the present reality of deadlines, bottom lines,
and results? Whether it’s your private life or business, it’s always a
good idea to make promises you can keep, to begin projects you can
carry out to the end, and to make commitments you can make good on.
It’s a part of honesty; and honesty is the only policy.

If we cannot assure that certain conditions will be fulfilled, that
your product will be publicized to the best that it can be publicized,
than we will not make that formal promise. We want to deliver what we
said we’d deliver. And we want to do it in truth. In short, we want to
follow through. Down to the last punctuation mark. Period.
