Authors MaKe Sure Your Cover Magnifies Your Customer! by Sherri Rosen
Just recently I worked on an important book. The writing was great! The story was non-fiction & fascinating, but the cover told nothing about the book & was not magnetizing.
Stop & think if you are the customer either scrolling through book titles or walking thru a bookstore, wouldn’t it make sense for your book cover to be spectacular & magnetize the potential customer to look & open up your book.
There’s so much competition in our industory you want your book to stand out! Before you decide on a final cover, test the waters with potential customers (perhaps friends whose decisions you trust and that will be honest with you.)
Also making sure the book store has your title in the right place. If your book isn’t in its proper category that could take away so many potential sales for you.
Walk into your local bookstore. View the covers. View where the placement of books are. (proper placerment?) Besides cover, and the book being great, placement is also important.
Walk into your local bookstores, introduce yourself to the local book store events planner, and bring a copy of your beautiful book & setup some book signings. Sometimes going to bookstores directly & making yourself known can be the key to whether your book gets placed in the right section & that your cover will attract much attention.
Take a look at book covers & make a mental note of which covers draw you in and why, and which book covers are boring.
You, the author, took a long time to write your book, so please, not only the writing is great, but have a cover that draws the buyer to your book & to pick it up, glance through it and BUY IT!!!!
