I’ve had my own book publicity business in NYC for over 20 years, which is quite a FEAT!!!! Proud of what we’ve done and the books and authors we’ve worked with.
Being an author myself and a standup storyteller I know a great story when I hear it or read it.
With each potential client, even if they do not end up working with me, I must read through their book to see if I get as excited about the book as the author is. I don’t mean read every page but a few chapters to get a “hit” of the book and whether I like it.
I work with books and authors who I believe in. No BS. I’m a straight shooter. Ask authors who’ve worked with me. There have been authors I’ve said “no” to because I did not like their book.
If I love your book, my positive energy is going to transmit in communication on how much I loved the book. I cannot work with an author if I don’t believe in their book or if they are disrespectful.
I love my work. My very first book that I ever did book publicity on was already 12 years old, and it went onto the NY Times Bestseller List for 63 weeks. Doin’t ever let anyone tell your book is old. If it’s good, and you have the right book publicist it will sell.
