I’m reminded about relationships in Annie Lennox & The Eurythemics “Sweet Dreams” by Sherri Rosen
She talks about relationships in Sweet Dreams:
“Everybody’s looking for something
“Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to be used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused by you”
So are we in a relationship to use one another?
Are we in a relationship to be used?
Are we in the relationship to be abused?
“We travel the world and the 7 seven seas
Everyone is looking for something”
Have we mistakenly felt that to love is to use one another or abuse one another? Is that how we love?
Is that love? If so, where did we learn this? Did we grow up being used, using, being abused, abusing?
But can we learn to love and be loved, and not feel what’s in it for me.
To have one another’s back and to be one another’s best friend
To change ourselves because we want to change, and because we want to be the best we can be
No one can make you change. That’s a relationship that is setup to fail. You’ve got to want it. And want it bad.
Is there passion, genuine love, and a willingness to be there for one another?
If you have a blessed relationship, how fortunate you are. Take good care of it. Cherish it
And if you don’t have that blessed relationship, seek it, and first seek it within yourself.
The rest will come to you. Sweet Dreams.
