“Someone Like You” by Sherri Rosen with a lot of help from Van Morrison
I’ve always loved this song and its lyrics, and I’ve always felt that I was singing it and loving it and searching, because that “someone like you” was out there just waiting for “someone like me”, but what I never realized until I looked deep inside me was that i was seeking myself. I was actually looking for “someone like me”, and I realized that I would never find “someone like you” until I found “someone like me.” So I am singing this love song over and over again with jubilation that I have finally found me. And It doesn’t depend upon anyone else to make me love myself, but if that special someone does come into my life, it will be because we both love who we are and we can both love one another for who we are, limitations and all.
It’s not about completing one another, it’s not about looks, it’s not about what’s on the outside (although I must be honest with you, it does matter to me), and it’s not about
age. It is about having a deep sense of who I am, having a sense of openness, having a sense of genuineness and a sense of authenticity. It took me years to uncover all of the veils that actually hid who I really am, and it took a great deal of courage, because, believe me, how many people truly like honesty? And, I am almost forgot this: It’s about willing to be alone because I won’t settle.

This is exactly on time and on target for me. There have been times when I questioned if I wanted a ‘male version of me’ and the truth is, I don’t. I do want enough resonance to create a loving partnership. Thank you for writing this. <3
